On Saturday, July 20, 2024, we brought a little bit of Italy to La Habra Heights while reaching our fundraising goal. The evening was beautiful with a full moon overhead. We are very thankful for the support of the Assistance League of Fullerton.  The organization brought us cheerful pink bags filled with many useful items which included cards and postage.  Our clients loved receiving them and of course our volunteers love delivering them!

Easter week we sent baskets filled with toiletries for all our clients. We had women and men’s baskets provided by the La Habra Collaborative through their partnership with VCC:The Gary Center and Our Lady of Guadalupe. La Habra MOW was able to send out Christmas blankets and gifts to all our clients, thanks to Erica Wiessner and the Assistance League of Fullerton.  We are so fortunate to have the support of the local community.

We are grateful to have received a grant from NCL which we requested for our subsidized program.  Although our charge for meals is kept as low as possible, there are seniors on a fixed income who are unable to afford the expense. These funds will help us to cover the cost of the subsidized meals.

One of the NCL classes made cute little pumpkin plaques that we delivered to all our clients.  Thank you girls for your considerate handmade gifts.  Our clients love your thoughtfulness.

Thank you to James Gomez and Pastor Lance Cook for providing full  turkey dinners, with all the trimmings, to any of our clients who request the meal.  Everyone says it’s the best Thanksgiving meal they’ve eaten. The Assistance League of  Fullerton is now providing gifts to the La Habra Meals on Wheels clients as well as Fullerton MOW. Many of their members are La Habra residents and they have graciously offered to provide gifts to our clients as well. Thank you for your generosity!

The annual Volunteer Appreciation luncheon was held at our Hillcrest offices.  We provided a delicious Lascari’s lunch and  our volunteers were able to shop at “Gary’s General Store” through the La Habra Collaborative.  The Collaborative provides many great services to the community.

Today we had a meet and greet with five case workers from MOWOC.  They helped us pack and send out our food.  Our new case worker for La Habra is Robert Romero.  They are a great group and we enjoyed the visit.

The Lion’s Club donated a thousand dollars to be used for our upcoming expansion.  We will be moving to larger quarters and will need new computers as well as office furniture.  We hope to move by the first of February 2022.  Thank you La Habra Lions for your kind donation!

Thank you to Chick-fil-A for donating gift cards for our student and teacher volunteers. We were able to make 60 goody bags containing a gift card and candy for all the students and teachers.

Every year the NCL helps MOW during the summer months. During the year they have made personalized cards, 4th of July wreaths and Christmas wreaths. We love having the girls and their moms help cover routes as well as helping to pack the meals before going out to our clients.

In December the National Charity League made Christmas wreaths for all our clients.

December was a busy month giving away gifts to our clients and our volunteers!  We were able to give our clients groceries as well as goody bags filled with sugar-free chocolates. We also had a toy drive and our volunteers brought in toys for the city’s Christmas wishes program.

Thanksgiving meals were provided to our clients once again by Calvary La Habra. A Night in New Orleans held June 22, 2019

Our volunteers were happy to deliver meals and Mother’s Day gifts to our clients in the rain today! Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms!  Thank you to Our Lady of Guadalupe and VCC. The Gary Center for providing the items to fill our gift bags!

During the holidays we delivered three days worth of food while the community center was closed for repairs. It was quite a job but with the help of many hands it got done!
